Invitation to Workshop: RTRS Care Pathways – Identifying Obstacles and Threats

We are excited to announce an exclusive online workshop titled “RTRS Care Pathways – Identifying Obstacles and Threats” taking place on November 22nd at 10 AM (CET). This focused workshop aims to address critical challenges within Rare Tumour Risk Syndromes (RTRS) care pathways across Europe.

Background

The PREVENTABLE project, a three-year Horizon Europe initiative, is dedicated to addressing the clinical, social, and financial challenges of managing Rare Tumour Risk Syndromes (RTRS), heritable disorders that predispose individuals to early-onset cancers. RTRS, affecting 1:5,000 – 1:2,000 people, requires specialised, multidisciplinary care due to its rarity and diverse impact on organ systems. The project focuses on eight syndromes, including HDGC – Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer, GIST – Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour syndrome, BHDS – Birt-Hogg Dubé syndrome, HLRCC – Hereditary Leiomyomatosis and Renal Cell Carcinomas, LFS – Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, PHTS – PTEN Hamartoma Tumour Syndrome, FMM – Familial Malignant Melanoma, and PJS – Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome and it aims to overcome common challenges in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. This SWOT workshop on RTRS care pathways is designed to bring together key stakeholders and to identify obstacles and threats by highlighting areas for improvement and potential strategies for future care pathway enhancements.

Event Description

This interactive, closed-session workshop invites a select group of experts and stakeholders to collaborate on vital issues impacting RTRS care pathways. Discussions will provide identification of core challenges in RTRS diagnosis, funding, policy, and support structures, exchange perspectives on current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for RTRS care pathways. and key insights and actionable recommendations for policy improvements, which will be included in the project deliverable report submitted to the European Commission. Findings will be compiled in a comprehensive report submitted to the European Commission to inform future RTRS policy and care improvements.

Through open discussion, we aim to develop a collective understanding of barriers in RTRS care and explore realistic solutions that can strengthen these pathways at the European level.
