Introduction
PrevenTalk is a series of webinars and roundtable discussions organized under the PREVENTABLE project. It aims to raise awareness, foster discussion, and share insights on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of Rare Tumour Risk Syndromes (RTRS). These syndromes are rare, genetically inherited conditions that significantly increase an individual’s risk of developing various types of cancer. Each PrevenTalk session brings together experts, including clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and patient advocates, to discuss the latest research, best practices, and policy recommendations related to RTRS. The sessions focus on improving patient care pathways, promoting personalized medicine, and exploring interdisciplinary approaches to enhance prevention and treatment strategies across Europe.
The PrevenTalk 1 featured Dr. Hildegunn Vetti, who highlighted the importance of involving geneticists in cancer prevention strategies for Rare Tumour Risk Syndromes (RTRS) through a multidisciplinary approach. Ms. Rachel Chantre stressed the need for personalized care pathways and collaboration between healthcare professionals and policymakers to support RTRS patients. Ms. Alina Senn from the European Commission outlined EU efforts, including the European Reference Networks and the JARDIN project, to improve access to specialized care for RTRS. Dr. Ana Povo emphasized the importance of evidence-based policies for effective prevention. The webinar underscored the value of collaboration to enhance RTRS care and prevention. Learn more HERE
The PrevenTalk 2 centers on analysing the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) of care pathways for Rare Tumour Risk Syndromes (RTRS) by building on insights from interviews with leading clinicians across Europe. The discussion will focus on themes comparison from the SWOT analysis across different healthcare contexts, highlighting the importance of prevention in RTRS pathways, evaluating the benefits of multidisciplinary and personalized care teams and providing clear policy recommendations to enhance RTRS patient care and management, promoting more effective and patient-centric approaches across diverse healthcare settings.
Format
The PrevenTalk 2 moderated by The European Health Management Association (EHMA) is in the hybrid roundtable format, as part of the PREVENTABLE project’s Midterm Conference taking place in Rouen, France and through our social media channel. It will bring together clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to discuss best practices for preventing and treating Rare Tumour Risk Syndromes (RTRS).
