The PREVENTABLE project was recently highlighted at the 27th Annual Meeting of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Genética Humana in Lisbon. Represented by i3S, the project shared significant progress and objectives focused on one of the Rare Tumor Risk Syndromes (RTRS), Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer (HDGC).

During the presentation titled “Establishment and Validation of Parallel and Condition-Specific Care Pathways for HDGC,” i3S provided valuable insights into the research advancements within HDGC. The presentation covered the analysis of seven clinical modules derived from individual trajectories associated with HDGC, categorized for non-carriers, asymptomatic carriers, and affected carriers. These modules were systematically outlined in the HDGC matrix developed through the PREVENTABLE project.

The work also included the segmentation of sub-procedures (encompassing medical, surgical, tests, and consultations) resulting in the identification of over 60 distinct elements, each with an assigned code and associated cost/price. This presentation significantly contributed to the event by showcasing the meticulous research and progress made in advancing care pathways for HDGC.
